The ceremony and reception will both take place outdoors at the Bentley family home on Tybee Island, Georgia. Think palm trees, marsh views, sea breezes, and a really good excuse to dress up. You'll find the address on your invitation and on the Travel page. If the weather decides to be dramatic, we have a nearby indoor Plan B. If we need it, we'll post the updated location here before the wedding.
Dress for a beautiful spring evening by the water. Think cocktail attire with a little personality- linen, bright colors, interesting prints, or that outfit you've been waiting for an excuse to wear! You'll be celebrating on grass, so factor that in to your shoe choice.
Parking on Tybee is a little bit of an adventure, so we recommend carpooling or staying within walking distance if you can. There is no parking available at the wedding site. We’ll provide shuttle transportation from a nearby location before the wedding—details coming soon. Our advice? Leave the car behind if you can and make a whole evening of it.
First things first: slow down. You’re on island time now.Walk the beach, ride a bike, watch the ships roll by, and leave a little room in your schedule for something unexpected. Tybee is best enjoyed without a strict itinerary (although we do have a few favorites).A few of our recommendations:☕ Best coffee to start the day:Tybean Art & Coffee Bar — grab a cup and take it for a walk.🍳 Best breakfast:Auspicious Bakery — worth the short trip off-island for a proper breakfast adventure, or Wet Willie's if breakfast feels like it should include a little vacation energy.🦐 Best seafood stop:Bubba Gumbo's — a Tybee classic and one of our favorites.🦪 Best oysters:Sea Wolf Tybee — trust us on this one.🚢 Best ship watching spot:Upstairs at the Tybee Island Marine Science Center — grab a seat, watch the ships pass, and pretend you’re in charge of the harbor.🌅 Best sunset:Alley 3 — the perfect place to end the day.🏄 Best way to get on the water:North Island Surf & Kayak — rent a kayak, grab a surfboard, and make the most of the marsh.🏝 Best “museum” on the island:Tybee Island Light Station and Museum — history, views, and a pretty good leg workout.🥤 Best dirty soda:Arries — because sometimes the beach calls for a beverage that feels like a personality choice.🍺 Best after-dinner drink:Back River Brewery — stay awhile.💃 Best after-dinner dancing:Doc's Bar — because no Tybee weekend is complete without a little dancing. And if you have extra time, Savannah is just a short drive away and absolutely worth exploring. Our official advice: bring sunscreen, wear comfortable shoes, and don’t over-schedule yourself. The best Tybee moments usually happen when you’re not looking for them.Eat something delicious, get near the water, watch something beautiful, and stay out later than you planned!
The wedding is the main event, but we hope you’ll make a whole weekend of it.We’ll kick things off Friday evening with a beach gathering after dinner. Think ocean breeze, good conversation, and a chance to spend some time together before the big celebration. Dress comfortably for the beach, but with a little effort—this is still a wedding weekend, after all. We’ll share more details about the weekend schedule as plans come together.Whether you arrive early, stay late, or simply show up ready to celebrate, we’re so happy to have you with us.
April on Tybee is one of our favorite times of year, but the coast likes to keep things interesting. Pack for sunshine, sea breezes, and the occasional weather surprise.A few things you may want to bring:● A light jacket, sweater, or wrap for the evening breeze● Comfortable shoes for wandering, exploring, and dancing● A swimsuit (If you’re brave. The ocean will still be a little chilly!)● A bike, if you have one, or plan to rent one while you’re here. Biking is the best way to explore Tybee, and it will save you a few parking meter adventures.● Bug protection for the April gnats (our local favorites: olive oil hair sheen or a peppermint spray)● A small cooler if you’d like to bring drinks and relax on the Bentley’s dock. Guests are welcome to enjoy the dock anytime during the weekend!● Accessories to show off your entertaining talents at the reception, such as juggling balls, unicycles, etc
New Zealand! They're off to The Shire and the Glow Worm Caves!
Just three:Have fun. Be kind. Dance when the music starts.Everything else is optional. And if you don’t know Vikram yet, no just pretend like you do. Have a story ready about how you met him, make it a good one, and we’ll convince him to believe you.
Rugs throughout the celebration are a little piece of Big Daddy woven into the day.Abby’s Big Daddy, Joe Christian, had a lifelong appreciation for craftsmanship and history, especially in furniture and rugs.If you didn’t know Joe, you would quickly learn that he always knew where north was (you can look for the lighthouse from the ceremony), where to catch the best blue crabs, and how to navigate the waters. We see him throughout this setting—the dock is even named The Crab Doc in his honor.Joe also generously served as chauffeur after many weddings, driving newly married couples away in his beloved Model A phaeton. So this weekend, these rugs are a little reminder that Big Daddy is still along for the ride—maybe cruising beside us in a Model A, a model train, or even a flying carpet of his own.
